Elaine M. "Granny" Niemczyk, 85, of Junction City, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. Elaine was born May 14, 1931 at Fort Meade, Maryland, the daughter of Edward and Violet (Arsenault) Wagner. Elaine graduated from Glen Burnie (Maryland) High School.

Elaine moved to Junction City in 1968, as her husband was in the U.S. Army. Elaine worked for several years at Mobile Travelers, but later worked civil service on Ft. Riley until she retired in January of 1995. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary, and the Eagles Riders, all of Junction City.

Elaine married Leonard Niemczyk on Dec. 3, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. Leonard died on Aug. 14, 1991. Survivors include: 5 sons, Leonard "Butch" Niemczyk and his wife Jo-Ann, Seattle, WA, Melvin "Chip" Niemczyk, Junction City, Edward "Eddie" Niemczyk and his wife Trish, Newton, Daniel "Danny" Niemczyk and his wife Tina, El Paso, Texas, and Sam Niemczyk, Junction City; 2 daughters, Theresea "Terry" Baker and her husband Frank, Willow Park, Texas, and Dianea Seahase, Indianapolis, Indiana; 18 grandchildren, Samantha, Lonnie, Austin, Marshall, Kristen, Matthew, K.C., Justin, Robert, Matthew, Amanda, Ashley, J.R., Carter, Celina, Michael, Chelsea, and Caitlyn; 31 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by a brother, 4 sisters. and her poodle pal, Stubby.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at St. Xavier Catholic Church, with Fr. Gale Hammerschmidt presiding. Burial will follow at Ft. Riley Post Cemetery on Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends on Monday, May 22, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice House, or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
