Dennison K. "Denny" Johns, 78, of Junction City, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Geary Community Hospital. Denny was born July 20, 1939 in Manhattan, the son of John J. & Bernice M. (Gard) Johns. Denny was a 1957 graduate of St. George High School.

Denny married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Manly, Dec. 21, 1958 in Manhattan.

Denny joined the U.S. Marine Corps. and served in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines.

After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps., Denny and Vivian returned to Manhattan in May, 1961, and he began working for the Kansas Power & Light Co. (Now Westar).

Denny transferred to Junction City in 1964 to take an apprentice job in Line Department of K.P.&L. He retired as a Line Foreman after 33 years of service with the company.

Denny loved to travel and to see new places. He was very proud of the fact that he and Vivian had traveled to all 50 states, to over 60 countries, and to all seven continents. Many times he was asked "Why do you want to go there?", and his answer was always, "Because I have never been there."

He was always an animal lover, and he started the "Cans For Canines" program, which the family hopes will continue.

Family is very important, and Denny was extremely proud of his family. Denny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian; 2 sons, Derrick K. Johns (Djuna), Forney, TX and David "Randy" Johns (Deborah), Junction City, KS; 3 grandsons, Dustin Johns (Savannah), Rapid City, SD, Dakota Johns (Tiffany), Wylie, TX, and Damian Johns, Durango, CO; 2 granddaughters, Brandi Connaway, Kemp, TX and Destiny Johns, Forney, TX; 5 great grandchildren, Emma Johns and Caleb Connaway, Kemp, TX, Caison & Ashton Johns, Wylie, TX, and Indi Johns, Rapid City, SD; a brother, William L. Johns, Hewit, TX; a sister-in-law, Jane Johns, Centerville, OH; a brother-in-law, Robert Manly, San Luis Obispo, CA.; an Aunt, June Johns, Manhattan, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Denny will be missed by all those who loved him, including his 3 precious dogs, Rowdy, Renee', and Jamie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, 3 year old John Joseph Johns, Jr. and J.Dee Johns, Kansas City, MO; and a sister-in-law, Kay Johns.
