Delores was born on December 25, 1926 in Pampanga, Philippines to Conrado and Eulalia (Manrique) Luis. She went to school in the Philippines. As a young lady, she met and married a young soldier. Together they raised their family on many places in accordance with his military obligation. They ultimately settled in Junction City, KS.

Delores had a wide variety of interests. She proudly celebrated her heritage as a member of the Filipino-American Club of Junction City. She also volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America as a den mother and served as a commissioner with the Coronado Area Council. In keeping with her adventurous and outdoorsy spirit, she enjoyed going fishing and kept an indoor and outdoor garden. Delores was very creative. She crocheted many decorations and clothing items from doilies to ponchos. She was also a talented seamstress. She made several outfits for her children’s school events and other occasions. Delores also liked to bake and decorate cakes and cook traditional Filipino foods while mixing in cuisines from other cultures. Her cooking guru was Emeril Lagasse (BAM!). She admired Country Western Music and Luis L'Amour books. Delores was known to be very spirited when upset, and she would let you know how she felt. She is lovingly referred to as a "Spit Fire" by her family. Though she could be fiery, Delores was a child of God. She was a bible scholar and could recite the Word from memory. In keeping with her Christianity and loving nature, Delores was a very giving and compassionate person. She helped those in need. Above all, she was a devoted mother and loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She lives on in everyone she has met.

Delores is survived by her loving family: five daughters Darlena "Darlene" A. Cundiff of Columbus, OH, Hadiyah "Diana" Dansby of Junction City, KS, Deliliah E. Hamilton of Junction City, KS, Yolanda Witherspoon of Junction City, KS, Avelina "Lisa" M. Mitchell of Columbus, OH; son, Vanuse (Lisa M.) Mitchell II of Columbus, OH; special grandchild Sasheen Nicholas of Dallas, TX; grandchild and caregiver Micheala Mitchell of Junction City, KS; 21 grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.
