In Memory Of
Geraldine Louise Wood
1928 - 2017

Geraldine Louise Wood entered into eternal peace on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Junction City, Kansas.
One of seven children, Geraldine was born March 11, 1928 at Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence and Mae (Barnett) Christensen of Junction City, Kansas. She attended school in Skedee, Oklahoma.

Geraldine had a love for the LORD and was very involved in her community. She was the President of Eastern Star (twice), a Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Junction City, a Beauceant, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #830 Women’s Auxiliary. In addition to her contributions as a volunteer, she also worked as a salesperson for Avon for more than 45 years and was also employed by Weight Watchers for over 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Wood in 1990, son, Jeffery Scott Turner, brother, Cleo Christensen and long-time companion and dance partner, George Blazier.
She is survived by her siblings; Norman Christensen, Norma Jean(Christensen) Bulleigh, Jimmy Christensen, Willard Christensen, Wilbur Christensen and their spouses; her children Roger Cartwright and his wife Pam, Randy Cartwright and his wife Shelia, , Karen Bean, Pam Murphree and her husband Frank, and Candi Cook and her husband Steve; 11 grandchildren, Bridgette Malady, Venessa Adams, Jason Cartwright, Amy Weathers, Wade Cartwright, Jerimy Carlson, Amber Linder, Leslie Carlson, Brandon Settgast, Danielle Gregory, and Cameron Turner; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She lived her life with a Servant’s heart, always putting the needs of her children and others ahead of herself. Her faith in the LORD never wavered. Geraldine was very kind and had a loving soul, and she lived with grace and dignity. Her keen sense of humor, love of singing, and appreciation for the little things kept her happy, humble and grounded - even through hard times. She was well-respected and loved by everyone who knew her and she will be missed by many.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Sue Trie-Conrad presiding. Burial will follow at the Skiddy Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
