Meta Robinson
Meta Robinson, 91, of Junction City, died April 9, 2017 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Meta was born June 24, 1925 in Furth, Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of Konrad and Sabine (Lauer) Nissel. Meta was raised by Rev. Adam and Gertrude Wurth in Furth, Germany. She did all of her schooling in Germany and worked as a nurse in a field hospital during the war.
She and her husband, who was in the U.S. Army, moved to Junction City/Ft. Riley in 1972, but had lived previously in Germany and Colorado due to his military assignments. She worked as a Day Care provider with Cotten Day Care in Junction City. Meta was very active with the D.A.V. Auxiliary, and the German-American Club.
She married Melvin Robinson on April 24, 1959 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Melvin died Dec. 24, 1998.
No immediate family survives, but she is survived by her very close friends Dee and Kollette Hiesterman of Milford, and Mark and Carolyn Wilt of Rossville.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Ft. Riley Post Cemetery on Ft. Riley, with Dr. John Zobel presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends Of Animals.
