Master Sergeant (Ret) Thomas M. Case, 85, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his residence. A graveside with full military honors will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Pastor Alan Estby will officiate. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the American Heart Association.

Thomas was born May 29, 1931, in Orleans, NE, the son of Alfred and Lydia (Adams) Case.

Tom graduated from the Orleans High School, Orleans, NE in 1948. He worked for the Orleans Cooperative during and after high school and worked for Wells Construction Company on a railroad spur between Long Island, KS and Orleans, NE before joining the United States Air Force in 1949 where he served in Hawaii and Korea. He served until December of 1953 and went to work for the Mountain Fir Lumber Company in Independence, OR. In 1957, he rejoined the Air Force and had tours in Turkey, Korea, Okinawa, Germany plus several stateside duties. In 1979, he retired as Master Sergeant. He later went to work for the Woolworth Distribution Center as a Security Guard. In 1984, he began work as a Travel Voucher Examiner in the Finance and Accounting Office at Fort Riley. He retired from Civil Service in 1997. In August of 1998, he became a Red Cross Volunteer at the Irwin Army Hospital Pharmacy.

Tom was Adjutant of the American Legion Post #45 in Junction City, KS from 1984 until 2005. He still serves on the Executive Board with the American Legion. He was also a member of the 40/8 Voiture Locale #1029 in Junction City, KS, Life Member of American Legion Post #45 and the VFW Post #8773, Air Force Sergeants Association and the Retired Enlisted Association. Tom enjoyed calling bingo, playing bingo, camping and bowling.

He married Robinette F. Horst December 26, 1953, in Mission, South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife Bobbie of Junction City, KS; two sons, Randy Case and his wife Heide, Bruce Case and his wife Patricia; two daughters, Anita Case and Diana Spriggs all of Junction City, KS; six brothers, Everett Case, Gerald Case, Larry Case, Terry Case, Richard Case and Laird Case; three sisters, Shirley Brumley, Clara Phillips and Linda Mahoney; five grandchildren, Shawn Case, RayMann Spriggs, John T. Kozlowski, KayLynn Spriggs and Nathen Kozlowski; four great-grandchildren, TyShawn Vance, SeVynn Spriggs, Kacie Kozlowski and Landon Kozlowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Rex Case and one sister Viola Teal.
